Season Summary . . .

Season:
  Overall Record: 22 - 11
Final NAIA Rating: # 7

MCC Record: 12 - 4
MCC Standing: #1   Conference Champions!

Huntington captured the 2004-05 MCC Conference Championship with a 12-4 record, matching the conference record of Taylor, but beating the Trojans twice during the regular season.  In a disappointing MCC championship game, Huntington lost to Taylor by 1 point on a lucky three-point shot with 4 seconds left.  The Foresters went on to the NAIA national tournament as the #9 seed but ran into a deep and experienced (11 seniors) Newman University team, dropping the opener for the first time in their NAIA tournament history.

The Foresters finished the season with a +5.6 scoring margin and +1.1 rebounding margin per game.  Shooting percentages bested opponents 45% to 44% from the field overall, 36% to 35% beyond the arc, and 76% to 68% from the line.  They enjoyed margins of +3.4 assists/game, +0.3 blocks/game and -0.9 turnovers/game.  Their made-free-throws/game was +3.8 better, with +3.2 attempted-free-throws/game. They got to the line more often, and made it count.

In fact, Huntington finished #1 in the MCC in free-throw shooting percentage and #4 in all of NAIA D2, hitting 75.8% for the season.  They were also #1 in the MCC and #4 in the NAIA with an assist/turnover ratio of 1.28.  They finished #1 in the MCC in fewest turnovers per game, and #2 in the MCC (and #23 in the NAIA) in assists per game, averaging 16.5 per outing.  Their field goal percentage of 48.3% placed them #19 in the NAIA.
