Tyler Shively has been important to the success of the Foresters. As a senior in 2010-11, Tyler averaged 19.2 points a game (#3 in the MCC), with 4.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 steals a game. He shot 47.0% from the field, including 41.9% from long range, and put in 93.4% (171 of 183) at the line. Game highs included 5 three-pointers, 17 free throws, 4 offensive rebounds, 8 defensive rebounds, 8 assists, and 5 steals. Over four seasons, Shively scored 1,616 HU career points (#18 on the all-time scoring list) and put in 91.4% of his free throw attempts for a new career record at HU. He also set two other HU records with 70 consecutive free throws and 50.5% three-point shooting as a junior. His 70 consecutive free throws was a new NAIA record, too. Tyler was named All-MCC Second Team as a senior, All-MCC Third Team as a junior and sophomore, and All-MCC Newcomers Team as a freshman. |
A three-year starter at Columbia City HS (3A), Tyler averaged 16.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists as a HS senior. He shot 50.9% from the field that season and had more than 20 points in several HS games. He holds the Single Game Free Throw Percentage record at CCHS, connecting on 12 of 12 at the line in one game. Shively was a Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 40 workout player and an Indiana East-West All-Star player, as well as two-time All-NHC First-Team selection. He was also named 21-Alive Player of the Week, was an All-Northeast Indiana First Team Selection of the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, and received Honorable Mention from the Indiana Basketball Coaches. Tyler is majored in Accounting at Huntington University. |
