Shane Merryman begins his senior year with the Foresters having scored 1,334 points, ranking #25 on the all-time scoring list at HU. As a junior, Shane averaged 22.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists a game, while shooting 61.8% from the field and 83.0% at the line. He put in 21 of 49 three-point attempts for 42.9% and posted 3 double doubles. He led the CL in points scored, field goals, field goal percentage and points per game. During the 2012-13 season, he had high games of 35 points at Goshen. Shane had 2 games of 30+ points and 21 games of 20+ points, scoring at least 10 points in every game. At the end of the season, he was named to the All-Crossroads League First Team, the NAIA All-America Third Team and recognized as an NAIA Scholar Athlete. |
Merryman is a graduate of Carroll High School where he helped the Chargers win Conference, Sectional and Regional championships before losing in the Semi-State finals. He was an All-Northeast Hoosier Conference selection, was named the Indiana's NewsCenter Basketball Player of the Week, and was a two-time US Cellular Player of the Week. At the end of the season, Shane was named to the 2010 All-Northeast Indiana First Team and the 2010 News-Sentinel All-Area First Team. Shane participated in the 2010 Border Wars Classic, was invited to Hoosier Basketball magazine's Top 60 Workout, and was a Finalist for the 2010 Indiana All-Star Team, receiving AP All-State High Honorable Mention. Shane is the grandson of Huntington University Hall of Fame inductee Dean Merryman (1958-62), currently the 8th all-time leading scorer at HU. |
