ANDREW MOCK - Freshman

Andrew Mock, 5’8 freshman from Wawasee HS, is an unusually gifted athlete.  Andrew is the first athlete in Wawasee HS history to earn 12 varsity letters: in track and football as well as basketball.

Mock earned All-State recognition as part of the State Finals 4 x 400 relay team; he earned All-Conference status and All-State Honorable Mention as the leading receiver for the Warriors football team; and was All-Conference, All-Sectional and All-Regional as a basketball player.

Mock was named All-Northeast Indiana and was All-Area last season, shooting 53 three-pointers.  He led the Warriors with a free-throw shooting percentage of 87%; tops in the conference; fifth in the State.

Mock is an excellent student: a member of the WHS Academic Hall of Fame, a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year Scholar Athlete.  He is majoring in exercise science at Huntington.

ALEX NAFZIGER - Freshman

Alex Nafziger, 6’5 freshman from Pettisville HS (OH), joins the Foresters.  After leading the Blackbirds to their fifth conference title, Alex received several honors, including All- Northwest District First Team and Buckeye Border Conference Player of the Year.

In addition to basketball, Nafziger earned letters in baseball and soccer (four years).

Getting ready for his first year at HU, Alex spent the summer lifting weights, playing pick-up basketball games, and working a job at Gerig Eavespouting in Pettisville.

Nafziger lives a little north of Wauseon, OH, and has an older sister majoring in fashion design at the University of Cincinnati.

Nafziger was Class Valedictorian, a National Honor Society member and Student Council President at Pettisville HS.  He wants to teach math, and become a coach and athletic director some day.

He says college life has been real busy so far and he’s still adjusting to it.  He also says he’s looking forward to the start of the basketball season this year.

TYLER SHIVELY - Freshman

Tyler Shively, 6’1 freshman from Columbia City, is the third Shively sibling to become a Forester.  His brothers Trevor and Trent preceded him in the program.

Tyler, a three-year starter for the Eagles, was a Top 40 workout player, an Indiana East-West All-Star Team selection, and an All-Northeast Indiana First Team selection, among other honors.  He holds the Game Free Throw Percentage record at Columbia City HS after making 12 of 12 last year.

Shively spent the summer working at the family-owned grain elevator, playing hoops whenever he could and spending some time in South Carolina: first, in Myrtle Beach with his own family; then, in Hilton Head with a friend and his family.

Tyler says the college experience has been exciting and challenging.  He says it’s taken awhile to get used to not having all his classes in sequence, but now he’s starting to enjoy the breaks between classes.

KELLEN ZAWADZKI - Freshman

Kellen Zawadzki, 6’3 freshman, is from Tipp City, OH.  Kellen holds the Tippecanoe HS Career Scoring record (with 1,241 points), as well as the Career Three-Point Field Goals and Single Game Free Throw records.

Zawadzki was selected Ohio All-State First Team, Player of the Year in District Nine, and All-Conference First Team (3 years).

Most important to him, the Red Devils won their third straight conference title (after winning 30 straight conference games) and won 65 of 69 games the last three years.

He spent his summer detailing cars at a Ford dealership, playing in pick-up games and vacationing in Hilton Head.

Kellen has an older sister who is a junior at Cedarville and a younger brother who is 11.  Kellen says his younger brother is the next "Steve Nash." Since basketball runs deep in this family, why not?

Kellen is anxious for the season to begin. He says he’s enjoyed his time on campus to date, including the late night runs to Taco Bell, but he misses mom’s cooking.
