Incoming Freshmen Will Strengthen the Forester Roster for a Few Years to Come

GEARING UP FOR ANOTHER TOUGH MCC CAMPAIGN
The Foresters had another successful season in 2006-07 with a 29-5 record, winning both the MCC Conference Title and the MCC Tournament Championship for the second straight year, earning a trip to Branson for the fifth year in a row (and seven times in eight years), while establishing a first for the program by being rated #1 nationally in NAIA D2.

The Foresters have eight players returning to the roster next season, but they took a hit with the graduation of four seniors and the transfer of two sophomores. Forward Ben Haifley and guard Ryne Thornton will be changing schools next fall. To compensate, Head Coach Steve Platt and his staff are bringing in four outstanding new players:

• Andrew Mock, 58 guard, Syracuse, IN Wawasee High School

• Alex Nafziger, 65 forward, Pettisville, OH Pettisville High School

• Tyler Shively, 61 guard, Columbia City, IN Columbia City High School

• Kellen Zawadzki, 63 guard, Tipp City, OH Tippecanoe High School

OUTSTANDING PLAYERS RETURN AS WELL
The eight returning Foresters and four new freshmen put the roster at 12 next season and all of these guys are keepers. While the team graduated 64% of their points, 55% of their rebounds, and 69% of the assists, good players have been waiting in the wings.

In different games last season, Doug Sheckler had 34 points and 11 rebounds, Kyle Benge had 27 points and 8 assists, Kevin Kyle had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Luke Smith had 13 points and 5 assists, and thats just a sample of the returning talent. Forester Fans can be optimistic with the current roster, but life is never easy in the MCC Conference.
