Greg Glancy . . .

As it turns out, I was proudly a part of his 1988-89 freshman team, which won a record 25 games to just 2 losses that season. In 1994, Greg joined HU as Coach Platt’s assistant so, once again, I had the pleasure of playing on a winning team in which Greg was involved. He continued as Assistant Coach at Huntington through the outstanding 1999-2000 NAIA Final-Four season.

As their children grew, Greg gave up coaching to spend more time with his family. Their daughter, Jennifer, is now 18 years old; their son, Justin, is now 16, and is involved in cross country, basketball, and baseball at Huntington North High School.

Earlier this year, Greg also received his Masters Degree from Ball State in School Administration and would like to pursue that career path in a few years.

HALL OF FAME HONOR
Greg is honored to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and says that he never had imagined that he would be recognized for his basketball accomplishments.

He says that as a youngster, he didn’t even expect to become a college basketball player. He credits his teammates and acknowledges that he would not have been inducted without a great supporting cast. Not just his teammates, but his family and friends included.

HUNTINGTON MEMORIES
Greg obviously has many fond memories of Huntington College. Athletically, he has the memories of both basketball and baseball. He remembers Bethel College as the school’s biggest rivalry at the time and recalls pitching a no-hitter for the Foresters in a game against Bethel on parent’s weekend.

Another fond memory relates to a time when he was a freshman on the basketball team and they traveled to Wabash College for a tournament. Huntington did well and both he and senior teammate Ward Meese were named to the All-Tournament team.

Greg says he was always busy as a student. Along with playing basketball and baseball, he also worked nightly on a work-study program that included cleaning and maintenance work throughout much of his college life.

He also recalls the meaningful relationships that were built while attending Huntington. Professors Barlow and Bergdall are two educators that he specifically notes as having an impact on his life.

We are certainly pleased to see Greg Glancy honored in this manner. He was not only an outstanding player; he is an outstanding person.
