ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS
A soft shooting touch. That’s what the Forester Fans of the early 1980’s remember about Greg Glancy.

Not only did he have that soft touch, but he also led the team in field goal shooting percentage as a freshman and proceeded to lead the nation in free throw shooting percentage as a senior year.

Also as a senior, Glancy led the Foresters with an 18.0 points per game average, was named an MCC all-conference player, and was an NCCAA All-District and a second team All-American.

Glancy finished at Huntington with 1,406 career points (stands 16th best today).

HEADING TO HUNTINGTON
Glancy graduated from Blackford High School in 1979 where, in his senior year, he averaged 24.6 points per game.

Greg remembers Coach Steve Platt, an assistant coach at the time (see photo below), recruiting him along with one of Greg’s High School teammates.

Glancy received letters from many colleges and universities but says that the choice was easily made. |

Greg wanted to play right away, and he remembers Coach Spahr telling him that if he worked hard he could have the fifth starting spot on the team.

He already knew Huntington had a good team and he appreciated the fact that the school was close to home.

FAMILY AND CAREER PATH

Another of Greg’s accomplishments at Huntington was finding his wife, Sheryl. After graduating, they were married at the College Park Church in 1983.

From there, he and Sheryl moved to Ohio where Greg continued his education at Miami University of Ohio. While he was there, he was a graduate assistant in the basketball program.

Glancy earned his Masters Degree in Education at Miami in 1984.

Greg and Sheryl then moved back to Indiana where he taught and coached at Eastbrook High School in the Marion area.

A couple of years later, they returned to the Huntington area where Greg taught and coached at Huntington North High School from 1988-1994.
