

with just two more players on the roster than the year before. Now, with five seniors next season, the Foresters are reloading. As for depth: let’s try it again.

The ten returning Foresters and five new freshmen will push the roster up to 15 players, the exact same number we expected a year ago, and the Forester Fans can be optimistic with this set of newcomers.


Kyle Johnson made his commitment to HU early this year. He even went to Branson to watch the Foresters play for the National Championship. A resident of Kendallville, Johnson will be an outstanding addition to the program.

Kyle played varsity basketball at East Noble HS (4A) for four years, starting every game and averaging double figures each of his last three seasons. As a senior, he

averaged 13 points a game, shot 45% from the field, 40% behind the arc, and 92% at the line. His free throw percentage set a new school record, breaking the old record of 90% that he had set the year before.

Johnson also set school records for consecutive free throws in a season (33) and three-pointers in a game (8), in a season (72) and in a playing career (210). Equally important, he holds the record for post feeds in a season and a school career.

Kyle was voted Most Dedicated Player by his teammates three years in a row, he was voted

MVP two years, and twice received the Knight Award as the athlete best representing East Noble HS on and off the athletic field or court.

Kyle is a three-time First Team All-Conference selection. (As a sophomore, Kyle shared this particular honor with Doug Sheckler, then a senior at Columbia City HS.) Kyle will graduate with 11 varsity letters, having participated in tennis and track as well as basketball at East Noble HS, earning him the Knight of Distinction Award.

Kyle is a member of the National Honor Society and was on the Honor Roll all four years. He expects to major in business at Huntington University.
