Days tournament games this summer, and have been to some of Ty’s exhibition baseball games, as well.
That’s right, Ty’s also a standout baseball player and looks forward to not only having an impact on the basketball program; he wants to slide into the Forester baseball record book, as well.
I had the opportunity to meet Ty during the summer and was immediately impressed by the way he interacted with all the guys. Some might hold back, trying to learn the “lay of the land” if you will. Not Ty; he was sharing jabs and definitely able to hold his own. Further to his credit, Ty stood up to my attacks as well. Ty, we look forward to seeing that scrappy nature on the court this season and in future years to come.

GEOFF SCHEETZ - Freshman

in handy if he ever needed to get a ticket fixed (not saying that he would). Geoff has two younger siblings: Matt and Nicole.
Geoff will major in Elementary Education and wants to be involved with coaching basketball and soccer some day. I wasn’t aware that Geoff is not only a standout basketball player; he was also a two-year letterman in soccer at Plymouth.
Geoff enjoyed vacationing in Miami with several high school friends this summer and, being an avid Cubs fan, he took some opportunities to enjoy baseball games in the Windy City, too.
If you spend anytime at all with Geoff and Kyle Benge, you quickly realize the strength of their friendship. Many probably aren’t aware that they currently hold the title of "HU Basketball Cornhole Champions." For those unfamiliar to this, it’s a sport akin to horseshoes. Too bad, but the tournament wasn’t an official ACA (American Cornhole Association) sanctioned event so they didn’t qualify for the nationals.

RYNE THORNTON - Freshman
Ryne is one of eight children in the Thornton family. He has an older sister who now attends Marian College and six younger siblings back in Carmel.
His dad is the director of the YMCA and his mom is an extremely busy stay-at-home mom -- the Superintendent of their home school enterprise. I could simply call it a home school but when you are managing that many kids, I believe you deserve being elevated to the “enterprise” level (and a congressional medal of honor).
Ryne spent the bulk of this past summer installing decorative ponds and fountains, much like the new one in the circle drive just outside the PERC on the Huntington campus. By the way, Ryne surveyed that piece of work and gave the crew a definite A+ for the design and layout.
Ryne comes to Huntington University to get a degree in business. I think it’s safe to say we will be impressed with Ryne as he makes a positive impact on both the Forester basketball program as well as the larger HU community.
