PLENTY OF NEW PLAYERS
The 2005-06 Foresters will have seven new faces this season, but it’s not because they lost a lot of players. Eight return and with the Kyle Benge addition, they now have four All-State players on the roster.
But never mind the basketball stuff; let me tell you what these guys are really about.

STEVE SNIDER - Senior
There’s no doubt in my mind that Steve ended last year disappointed, but he turned that disappointment around and chose to use it as motivation for the coming season and his senior year.
Steve added more bulk in the summer, but not all of his time was spent in the gym, he had an internship with a commercial real estate firm in Indianapolis so he put a lot of energy into learning the ins and outs of the real estate business.
I recall reading Steve’s away message on his IM profile right after his first day on the job. It went something like this, "I’ve finished my first day of work and realize the rest of my life is gonna stink."
Haven’t we all felt that way at some point in life? Steve, we all hope you make the most of your senior year, not only on the court, but in your classes and in your life. You’ve had a tremendous impact the past three years at HU and I know you’ll continue to have a great impact this year.
Steve and Chase are ready to take the helm of leadership and I know they’ll lead this team to greatness.

CHASE VERBA - Senior
Chase focused his attention this summer on his game. To that end, he got up early (if you consider 9:00 AM early) and met Alex to lift and shoot baskets. The dedication paid off as Chase is bigger this year. Then, off to the lake for fun in the sun and water.
Chase took two trips this summer. The first was to Canton, OH, for the 2005 Pro Football Hall-of-Fame Game and Induction

Ceremony. The second was with his girl friend, Michelle, and her family to San Diego. Of course, all this fun and traveling around left no time for a real job but don’t worry, Chase, there’ll be plenty of time for work later on in life (just ask Steve).
Chase has already stepped up to the plate in terms of team leadership this fall; he’s been working the guys and shepherding the six new freshmen through six weeks of early morning conditioning.
Chase, we all look forward to watching and cheering loudly as you and Steve lead the Foresters to some greatness this season. You truly are one of the reasons that this team and program are worth supporting. Thanks for all you’ve done and are doing; keep up the good work.

KYLE GANTON - Junior
Kyle L. B. Ganton returns a little bigger and a little stronger, as a result of last spring’s conditioning program. This may come as somewhat of a shock to those who see Kyle for the first time but, yes; he was, in fact, thinner than he is now.
Kyle spent much of the summer preparing for his final 4-H fair. He focused his effort on a prize steer that he was convinced would earn him Best of Show, and he proceeded to do whatever it is one does to prepare a steer to be shown at a fair.
The big day arrives and off goes Kyle with his steer. Things are running smoothly, until Kyle begins the showmanship stint of this farm fashion show. While parading the cow around the ring, it collapses. That’s right; the stinking cow just drops over in the middle of the ring.
Picture Kyle, 6’ 5, standing over his cow as it lies motionless on the ground. Take that a step further. Try to picture him executing life-saving measures on said cow. On the other hand, let’s not try to picture that.
Fortunately, the animal “came to” in time to complete the parade. Unfortunately, this untimely fainting spell cost him a few points with the judges and he was awarded ninth
