2005 Senior: Adam Bontreger
Huntington College Point Guard: Class of 2005
 Outstanding Leadership

 |
Adam Bontreger, the lone senior on the Forester squad this year, has been starting point guard the past two seasons. During that time, the Foresters have achieved a overall 47-20 record, as Adam has dished out 206 assists, scored 253 points (hitting 47 three-pointers), pulled in 108 rebounds, shot 42% from the field, |
and achieved a two-year 2.40 assist/turnover ratio!
 Early Beginnings
It all began as a first grader in the Westview basketball league. Adam would get up early on game days, put on his uniform (including the all-important wristbands) and warm up hours before the game. He practiced on a homemade court in the hayloft of his grandpa’s barn.
He, with schoolmate Derek Yoder, began playing AAU games in the fourth grade, meeting some of the best basketball talent in Indiana early in their careers. Adam continued in the Westview basketball league and later played soccer, baseball and basketball on the Westview High School teams. He and Derek led Westview to the Class 2A High School Championship in their junior and senior years. Adam was the game MVP as a senior.
 College Basketball

|
Adam began his college career at Bethel, but as a sophomore, he decided to transfer to Huntington College in order to join friends Derek Yoder and Ryan Thwaits. He was required to red-shirt his first year at Huntington (per MCC rules) and was finally reunited with Derek and Ryan on the hardwood for the 2003-04 season. |
