State University last year. As a freshman at Wright State, Alex realized that he really wanted to attend a smaller school.
He took a serious look at
several colleges that might fit the bill, but decided to attend Huntington College primarily because of the campus atmosphere and the basketball program.

Alex is majoring in education in route to becoming a physical education teacher and a
coach. He is from Auburn, IN, and has two brothers: an older brother Aaron, who graduated from Purdue and now lives in the Chicago area, and a younger brother Adam, who is a senior basketball
player at DeKalb HS this year.
Alex spent his summer the hard way; earning some spending money as a landscaper. We welcome Alex to Huntington College and look
forward to getting to know him a whole lot better this coming year.
 Trent Shively (#10, 5'10 Freshman)
Trent Shively is a younger brother of Trevor Shively (a junior on the team).
Trevor, of course, was a major influence in Trent's decision to attend HC.
While Trent had planned on attending Huntington for sometime, he said he wouldn't play basketball. It was last winter when I first tried
talking Trent into playing basketball for Coach Platt, but I was unable to do it; he summarily rejected all of my arguments.

A couple of conversations with the Coach later, and Trent's a member of the Forester
squad. Now, I ask you: who has major influence over Trent's decisions in life; or just as importantly, who doesn't?
Trent spent his summer in both work and leisure. He worked for the Columbia City Parks Department, and vacationed in Myrtle

Beach and did some fishing in Canada, as well.
Trent is an avid outdoorsman; he got his second and third deer last fall. His hunting partner, Doug Sheckler,

documented the entire event on film.
Trent was a member of the state runner-up Columbia City Eagles basketball team and also
played baseball in HS, as well. Among his accomplishments: he's the first of the Shively trio to not only hit a homerun for the Eagles; but it was a grand slam!
 Doug Sheckler (#11, 6'6 Freshman)
Doug Sheckler comes to Huntington College from Columbia City, IN, where he and Trent have
enjoyed a lifelong friendship. Outside of basketball, Doug enjoys hunting and making outdoor videos of friends and family members involved in outdoor activities.
He is the first Indiana All-Star to play at Huntington College. And while he was actively recruited by many colleges, including several
NCAA D1 schools, he made a decision to attend Huntington because of the players, Coach Steve Platt and what Huntington has to offer
academically, athletically, socially, and spiritually.
 Doug looks
forward to the start of the basketball season after spending a good part of the summer practicing and playing with the Indiana All-Stars. He also worked at a hardware store, and then tried to find some time
to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
 Doug may be an Indiana

All-Star, receiving lots of publicity and winning awards, but he has his head on straight. This kid's as down-to-earth as anyone could be.
