lifetime resident of Columbia City, Trevor is often kidded about being the Mayor of CC, a job
no one who knows Trevor would be surprised if he actually held sometime in the future.
Trevor has two younger brothers, Trent a freshman at Huntington College who is also on the team, and Tyler, usually called "Jim" for some reason,
who is a sophomore basketball player for the Columbia City Eagles this year. Perhaps Coach Platt will have a third Shively on the team in a couple years.
While Trevor isn't actually the Mayor, he was assistant manager of the pool in Columbia City this summer. This was a tough job, but somebody
had to do it. Trevor stepped up to the plate and volunteered. Getting a tan and enjoying the sights, while getting paid for it is one tough job. What a trooper!
 |
Trevor has dedication to his game unlike many others I've known, but that was hampered by a badly sprained ankle the first week of summer vacation.
After some careful rehab (and taking it easy with that pool job), Trevor was able to get back into the weight room as well as the gym, working just as
hard as he ever did. |
To give you an indication of his dedication, he's actually an avid wake-boarder, but he decided
to give it up for the summer just to ensure that he wouldn't get injured and jeopardize playing basketball.
 Chase Verba (#32, 6'6 Junior)
Chase Verba is pursuing a major in business, with a minor in economics. He spent his
summer not only working on his game, but also working on his uncle's farm and his grandfather's farm. Since returning to campus, he's become known to as the guy who drives that black pick-up truck that
hauls a load of players to the gym every morning at 5:30 AM. It rocks!
Chase graduated from Angola HS two years ago with an academic honors diploma and, although he was heavily recruited by Bethel, he decided to come to
Huntington, especially because of Coach Platt, but also because he became quick friends with Ryan Thwaits, Derek Yoder and Trevor Shively.

Chase has a younger brother Cole, who is going to IPFW this spring, a step-sister Elizabeth,
who is married with two kids, a step-brother Shane, who goes to Flagler College (an NAIA school in Florida), and a
 |
step-brother Mitch, who is a freshman at Angola HS this year.
You don't need to spend too much time with Chase to know that his family is extremely important. And he's very important to his family,
too. You won't go to many Forester games without seeing his parents and his grandparents.
With all he has going on with the school work and the basketball, he still gets |
together with his grandparents for lunch most weeks.
 Seth Lochmueller (#21, 6'1 Sophomore)
Seth grew up in Fort Wayne and attended Carroll High School, where he was a 12-time
letterman. In fact, he is the only student to ever have achieved that honor in the history of Carroll HS.
Seth is planning to major in elementary education, following in the footsteps of both of his parents as well
as his older brother. Seth also has a sister Gretchen who is married.
Seth's parents taught in the Carroll school system, as does his older brother Karsten. Karsten and his wife Kim made Seth an uncle
several years ago; he has a nephew Rylan and a niece Makaela.

Seth spent this past summer at the lake, spear-fishing, water skiing and working out.
He played basketball everyday and also managed to see Phish, and the Grateful Dead in concert.
Seth, an avid practical joker, was named the funniest member of last year's squad. I've encouraged him numerous times to focus on becoming
the most studious player, rather than the funniest. So far, he hasn't bought into that, but there's still two years to go.
