Huntington Foresters:  End-of-Season Notes
 
2014-15 Senior Foresters

Huntington had just two seniors on the 2014-15 Forester Roster:




Tyler Ault, a frequent starter for the Foresters each of the past three years, completed his four-year career at HU with 645 total points scored.  Tyler scored 115 points this season, including 23 three-pointers, along with 41 rebounds, 17 assists and 10 steals.  High games this season included 14 points at Bethel, 13 points versus Mt Vernon Nazarene, 10 points versus Bethel at Home, and 15 games with no turnovers.  Ault scored 10 or more points in 3 games, and 5 points or more in 12 games.

Ault demonstrated great defensive skill and was a consistent outside shooting threat.  He put in 37.7% of his three-point attempts this season, making 36.6% over his four-year career.  In total, Tyler put in 111 treys, had 233 rebounds, 113 assists, 8 blocked shots, 61 steals and shot 42.2% from the field.  This past season he averaged 4.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.4 steals, while averaging 18.3 minutes per game.

Alec Peterson completed his four-year career at HU with 739 points.  Alec's highs this season included 17 points vs Grace, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks versus Ohio Christian.  He had 3 steals at Trinity Christian, and shot 50% or better in 13 games.  Alec finished his HU career with 51.6% field goal shooting, making 284 of 550 attempts from the field in his four-year career.

Peterson was able to score, putting in 10 points or more in 5 games this season, and 5 points or more in 11 games.  He had 573 total rebounds and 158 blocks in his HU career.  Alec ranked #3 among all CL players in blocks per game (1.4), #6 in offensive rebounds per game (1.9), #11 in double doubles for the season, and #19 in total rebounds per game (4.8).  Over four years, he put in 720 field goals, had 22 double doubles, provided 253 assists, blocked 55 shots, and made 87 steals.

The Foresters ended the 2014-15 season with no active players in the 1,000 Point Club.

 
Impressive Season Statistics

During the 2014-15 season, Huntington had three players shoot 50% or better from the field for the season, three shoot 40% or better from three-point range, and six shoot 75% or better at the free throw line:

Trevor Lockwood made 49 of 75 attempts from the field for 65.3%.

Alec Peterson made 54 of 97 attempts from the field for 55.7%.

Kyle Pipenger made 83 of 166 attempts from the field for 50.0%, 33 of 64 three-point attempts for 51.6%,
and 63 of 73 free throw attempts for 86.3%.

Derek Hinen made 43 of 96 three-point attempts for 44.8%.

Kalvin Miller made 8 of 20 three-point attempts for 40.0%.

Kai Foday made 1 of 1 free throw attempts for 100%.

Drew Benedict made 33 of 40 free throw attempts for 82.5%.

Devon Merder made 9 of 11 free throw attempts for 81.8%.

Daniel Woll made 104 of 134 free throw attempts for 77.6%.

Trevor Lucas made 9 of 12 free throw attempts for 75.0%.

New season highs for playing careers at HU set in games during the 2014-15 season by returning players:

Derek Hinen: 494 points, 181 field goals, and 43 three-pointers.

Drew Benedict: 166 points, 48 field goals, 33 free throws made, and 18 rebounds.

Kalvin Miller: 36 points, 11 field goals, 8 three-pointers, and 6 free throws made.

Kyle Pipenger: 262 points, 83 field goals, 33 three-pointers, 63 free throws, 90 rebounds, 35 assists, 5 blocks, and 11 steals.

Daniel Woll: 449 points, 164 field goals, 17 three-pointers, 104 free throws made, 206 rebounds, 68 assists, and 39 steals.

Drew Benedict: 3 rebounds.

Kalvin Miller: 8 points, and 2 three-pointers.

Notable NAIA D2 Rankings:

The Foresters ranked #18 in NAIA D2 in blocks per game with a 3.633 average.  They also ranked #18 in three-point field goal percentage shooting 38.6%.  The Foresters were #22 in the NAIA in total blocks with 109, and #43 in free throw percentage at 71.1%.  They ranked #47 with a 1.087 assist/turnover ratio, and ranked #50 in field goal percentage at 45.9% from the field.

Individually, Derek Hinen ranked #14 among all NAIA D2 players with 5.207 assists per game.  He was also #18 in total assists with 151, and #48 in points per game with a 17.034 average.  Alec Peterson ranked #25 among all NAIA D2 players with 1.375 blocks per game.  Daniel Woll ranked #33 among all NAIA D2 players in defensive rebounds per game with a 5.567 average.
